Forward bends help to calm the mind and nurture the body, but that's not what most of us think about first when folding in half - it's the hamstrings of course! especially when they are tight. To safely forward bend, it's important to consider where the bend begins - bend from the hips, not from the waist, so as you fold the back stays straight, if you've got super-tight hammy's, try bending the knees and take the feet to hip distance.
